Korea Hurts...

...sometimes.

In other non-you-have-no-idea-how-much-it-sucks-that-I-can't-sleep-on-my-right-side related news, I have decided to re-sign (not resign, I already made that typo a few too many times) my contract for the DMOE. I have requested to remain at my school and, pending my evaluation and the principal's famous stamp, I will stick around right where I am.

Naturally, I use this information to my benefit in the classroom. It's good when the students know that your contract is year by year and is fast approaching its completion. Be good or teacher Grack is leaving and NEVER coming back.

I have also used it to benefit the band, which needs lots of online votes to get some sort of sexy photos put in a magazine I've never heard of in Seoul. (pssst...vote Levine) The students have hit their cyworlds like teacher Grack was actually serious when he said that he would stay in Korea only if Levine won the most votes. One band found a clever way to gain one vote per second, throwing them in a 14,000-vote lead in a period of 6 hours (I think they've fixed the bug). A student of mine, after rushing in this morning to tell me about her vote, after jumping and screaming that we were in the lead by a hundred votes last night, began fighting back tears as she saw the gargantuan deficit. She whipped out her cellphone and said to me, "POLICE!"

Can you be a bigger fan than a seventeen year-old Korean girl?

Note: They don't really think I'll leave Korea if we lose, I just told them I'd join cyworld if we win. I still don't know which one would influence them more, though.

Some emails I got in return from students, separated by "-----" as to avoid confusion: (I sent them a mass email with the link to the voting site so they could vote for homework. I'm ready for these kinds of emails for the rest of my life.)
